Pyramidologi i Vakttornets historia Artikeln uppdaterad: 2005-03-17 Utskriftsvänlig version... Vakttornets historia präglas i stor utsträckning av en fokusering på kronologi. Sällskapet har försökt att förutsäga olika händelser genom åren. Kronologi är fortfarande en viktig aspekt i sällskapets läror, till exempel i betydelsen av året 1914. Få vet att grundaren Charles Russell använde pyramidologi, genom studier av pyramiden i Giza, för att stödja sina idéer om Bibelns kronologi. Sällskapet använde pyramidologin som Charles Russell definierade fram till 1928 då en tvärvändning inträffade. Plötsligt menade organisationen att det är Satan som kan få Guds folk att studera pyramiden i Giza (VT 1928, 1 dec, s 359). Vad är pyramidologi? Pyramidologi är en ockult företeelse som innebär att man använder pyramider i religiösa föreställningar. Den engelska webbplatsen Occultopedia förklarar de ockulta kopplingarna till pyramidologi i denna artikel. (OBS! Länken leder till en extern webbplats med ockult innehåll.) En mängd hedniska strömningar använder pyramidologi för att konstruera läror och levnadsregler. Kort sagt, pyramidologi har ingenting med kristen tro att göra, vilket är en slutsats som Jehovas vittnen även drar idag. Varför denna artikel? Om Jehovas vittnen anser att pyramidologi inte har med deras tro att göra idag, varför publicera denna artikel? Anledningen är att visa att organisationen tidigare har använt ockulta metoder för att stödja sin kronologi. Aktuella anspråk, så som till exempel att: "I över ett århundrade har förnämliga, korrekta sanningsord täckandes varje livsaspekt presenterats i Vakttornets publikationer." (VT 1990, 15 dec, s 26) öppnar upp för en analys av sanningshalten av dessa anspråk. Utöver att visa att organisationen tillgripit pyramidologi för att stödja sina förutsägelser så avser artikeln utmana aktuella påståenden om att organisationen har presenterat "förnämliga, korrekta sanningsord" sedan dess begynnelse. "Tillkomme ditt rike" ("Thy Kingdom Come") I Charles Russell's serie av böcker ("Studies in the Scriptures") finner vi boken "Thy Kingdom Come". I denna bok presenterar Charles Russell kronologi och förutsägelser om framtida händelser. Kapitel 10 är helt tillägnat en studie av pyramiden i Giza. Innehållsförteckningen:  Efter innehållsförteckningen, på sida 5, finner vi en skiss över pyramiden:  Från sida 314 och fram gör Charles Russell de mest anmärkningsvärda påståendena angående pyramiden. Från sida 314 "Viewed from whatever standpoint we please, the Great Pyramid is certainly the most remarkable building in the world; but in the light of an investigation which has been in progress for the past thirty-two years, it acquires new interest to every Christian advanced in the study of God’s Word; for it seems in a remarkable manner to teach, in harmony with all the prophets, an outline of the plan of God, past, present and future. ... The Great Pyramid, however, proves to be a storehouse of important truth—scientific, historic and prophetic—and its testimony is found to be in perfect accord with the Bible," Från sida 317 "While the additional, corroborative evidence given by the Great Pyramid to the written Word of God will be a fresh cause of rejoicing to the saints, it is manifest that its witnessing is chiefly intended for the world of mankind during the Millennial age. The testimony of this peculiar and remarkable witness will give to mankind fresh ground for faith and love and zeal, when in due time their hearts are prepared for the truth. It is remarkable, too, that (like the Plan of the Ages in the written Word) this stone “Witness” kept silence until now, when its testimony shall shortly be delivered to (Egypt) the world. But the saints, the friends of God from whom he will hide nothing, are privileged to hear the testimony of this witness now, before the worldly mind is ready to appreciate its testimonies." Från sida 320 "A few years after Prof. Smyth’s return, came the suggestion that the Great Pyramid is Jehovah’s “Witness,” and that it is as important a witness to divine truth as to natural science. This was a new thought to Prof. Smyth, as well as to others. The suggestion came from a young Scotsman, Robert Menzies, who, when studying the scientific teachings of the Great Pyramid, discovered that prophetic and chronological teachings coexist in it." But let none confound this period with the period shown in the Parallels of the Jewish and Christian dispensations— showing the two ages to be each 1845 years in length, the one from the death of Jacob to A.D. 33, and the other from A.D. 33 to A.D. 1878." Från sida 362 "Call to mind that the Scriptures showed us that the full end of Gentile power in the world, and of the time of trouble which brings its overthrow, will follow the end of A.D. 1914, and that some time near that date the last members of the Church of Christ will have been “changed,” glorified. Remember, too, that the Scriptures proved to us in various ways—by the Jubilee Cycles, the 1335 days of Daniel, the Parallel Dispensations, etc.—that the “harvest” or end of this age was due to begin in October, 1874, and that the Great Reaper was then due to be present; that seven years later—in October, 1881—the “high calling” ceased, though some will be admitted to the same favors afterward, without a general call being made, to fill the places of some of the called ones who, on being tested, will be found unworthy. Then look at the manner in which the stone “Witness” testifies to those same dates and illustrates the very same lessons." Från sida 364 "Is not this a most remarkable agreement between this stone “Witness” and the Bible? The dates, October, 1874, and October, 1881, are exact, while the date 1910, though not furnished in the Scriptures, seems more than a reasonable one for some important event in the Church’s experience and final testing, while A.D. 1914 is apparently well-defined as its close, after which the world’s greatest trouble is due, in which some of the “great multitude” may have a share. And in this connection let us remember that this date limit—A.D. 1914—may not only witness the completion of the selection and trial and glorification of the entire body of Christ, but it may also witness the purifying of some of that larger company of consecrated believers who, through fear and faint-heartedness, failed to render acceptable sacrifices to God, and who therefore became more or less contaminated with the world’s ideas and ways." Sammanfattnings kan vi alltså konstatera att Charles Russell drog långtgående paralleller mellan Bibeln och pyramiden i Giza. Vad sade tidskriften Vakttornet? "Thy Kingdom Come" publicerades 1891. Hur länge vidhöll organisationen pyramidologin som Russell definierat? Följande artiklar ger svaret: "In the passages of the great pyramid of Gizeh the agreement of one or two measurements with present truth chronology might be accidental, but the correspondency of dozens of measurements proves the same God designed both pyramid and plan…" (VT 1922, 15 juni, s 187) "The great pyramid of Egypt, standing as a silent and inanimate witness of the Lord, is a messenger; and its testimony speaks with great eloquence concerning the divine plan." (VT 1925, 15 maj, s 148) Åtminstone fram till och med 1925 så använde organisationen pyramidologi som stöd för sin kronologi. Den anmärkningsvärda vändningen! Året är 1928 och sällskapets ledning gör ett tvärt kast. I Vakttornet 1928, 15 maj; och 1928, 1 december så slås dock fast att man menar att pyramiden i Giza ingalunda har något med Guds ord och kronologi att göra, utan snarare med Satans organisation. Detta gjorde organisationen åtminstone fram till och med 1925, många år efter det att Jesus (enligt organisationen) utvalde dem som sin "trogne och omdömesgille tjänare" och många fler år sedan organisationens begynnelse från vilken man idag menar att "förnämliga, korrekta sanningsord täckandes varje livsaspekt presenterats i Vakttornets publikationer". Idag menar man att pyramidologi är sataniskt och att den som ägnar sig åt detta ägnar sig åt ockulta ting. Kontrasten är slående och det står uppenbart att organisationens anspråk inte kan sägas vara sanningsenliga. |
